Etching on your flute
It was suggested to me that when I find that perfect combination in setting up my flute that I have a flute repair tech etch a line at the spot so I can easily assemble it in the future. I got to thinking about this and personally I don't think it's a good idea. Maybe if I'm practicing by myself it ...

That's what I thought. I did use cigarette paper and later with a bit of alcohol. I eventually took it to a flute repair tech and that is what they told me. Which confused me. I've been working on lessening how hard I press the keys. Mostly it's when I am practicing something fast that I tend to pre...

Pressing too Hard?
I was told a few days ago that pressing too hard on the keys would cause them to, as best as I can describe it, to making clicking/squishing noises. That the by pressing hard you cause the pads to dent and that causes the sound. I had thought that this noise was due to the pads being dirty. Thoughts...

Assembled Flute Position
I'm curious as to how everyone assembles their flute. I've recently changed how I was assembling my flute so that it is more balanced. I was having trouble with the flute being supported by my left hand thumb, so when I moved my thumb the flute became unbalanced. It took me a couple days to find a p...

Re: Strange Encounter at a Music Store
Regardless, I probably wouldn't be doing business with them any time soon. Dusk - I am definately not going back to that store. First of all, you were the victim of advertising. I have been to many music stores that say they have a selection, then half of the time they pull out an order catalog. Yo...

Strange Encounter at a Music Store
I had a confusing encounter at a local music store, and was curious to see everyones reaction. I went to a store to try out some of their flutes. Their website states that they carried a wide selection of beginner, intermediate, and professional flutes. So, I figured I would go and try out as many o...
