If you saw it on the actual show How it's Made, I think that the company was Burkhart Phelan. If you remember the name of the show and there is a web link to the show. Maybe someone here can get a shot of the logo on the flute and will recognize the maker. The flute How it's Made is available on You...

Maybe you should get another teacher. I tried several before I found one that was good.

if I am tonguing wrong, or not "tonguing" at all, what can I do about it? I suggest that you get a good flute teacher and explain what you are doing and demonstrate what you are doing to him or her. That way they can start you over with the basics and you can learn to toungue correctly and eventual...

You can't really put a silver plated Muramatsu in the same catagory as a Solid silver Gemeinhardt because of the way the flutes feel.

I have owned both and the Muramatsu beats the Gem any day of the week.

That is my personal opinion.

do you quys know where i can get the bflat charomatic scale online. and if you have any opinions for playing the flute in marchinq band? I don't understand your question. A chromatic scale is a cromatic scale. Just start on Bb and go up or down. As for marching band. Get a cheap student flute to ma...

I am glad that you went and played some flutes. I could spend all day in that flute shop. You should work with a flute teacher for a while before you decide to make the big purchase. You might notice a difference the next time you try the flutes once you have started playing a lot again. Did you try...

I play with a thumb port. I can't hold the flute properly without it. I have double jointed thumbs and I broke my hands once. The bones are not straight. I personally like the thumb port that you can get a flute world. It is made of soft rubber and does not leave scratches on the flute. I have found...

It's pretty bad. But what I want to know is how many times has she played in front of an audience at that point in her life. I am just an amature, and I know that when I even try to play in my own home in front of a camera, my intonation just goes everywhere. I would love to play the flute for an au...

I agree with Phineas. Have your flute cleaned, oiled and adjusted. Learn to play it again and get some instruction. Work really hard on your embouchure. Getting a better headjoint is not going to help with your sound if you don't have a good embouchure. You might even sound worse. I know that when I...

Geez. You folks must have had some really lousy band directors in your neighborhoods. I know a lot of band directors and most of them are more familiar with different GOOD instruments than you might think. BTW - I'm a former band director. I'm a reed player (Sax, Flute, and Clarinet) but I learned ...

Your band director and the local music store are good places to start, I would also check out the local conservatory of music. I really wouldn't recommend the band director unless he or she is primarily a flute player. My flute teacher is appalled with some of the flutes that schools have recommend...

I would advise that you keep the old flute for marching band. Flutes get really beat up out in the elements. The pads get ruined by dust and rain. Flutes can get dropped or bashed by objects. A new headjoint would be great for her current flute. But if she is going to be doing marching band, I would...
